19 May ISIT delicious in Prahran?
ISIT cafe emerges as a strong contender in the South. There’s no denying, inner city cafes spread like gastronomic cyclones. In the wise words of ‘ Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’, sometimes you need a lil’ zhush. Head chef Kim Kuruvilla, has rolled out a new menu. A makeover can do wonders, when you’re no longer the new kid on the block.
ISIT makes the most of the cramped Greville St area. A garden party awaits your weekend hunger. Skip the boring bacon and eggs and order from the new menu. The toasties are hunky and beautiful. Spicy Mac & Cheese, bearnaise or the kim chi reuben – life is full of tough decisions. Buttery, spicy and creamy all-at-once – we’re in dude food heaven.
The must-order is the Sriracha benedict. The difference lies in the Sriracha and finger lime – the Aussie ingredient, often rated by chefs as ‘superior’ to lime. The juicy vesicles burst with acidity, calming the decadence and heat of the Sriracha hollandaise. A final pop of yolk, seals the deal.
Jumping on the matcha bandwagon, a quenelle of matcha creme, sits loud and proud. The boysenberries are eye-squintingly sour. Thankfully, custard and raspberries save our tastebuds.
ISIT cafe’s new menu, cracks the whip. Simplicity is key, with re-interpretations of traditional breakfast. The change isn’t sufficiently dramatic to scare away smashed avo lovers. But out with the old and in with the new!
